A Moon Lit Night
It was about 2 am in the morning. I was awakened out of sleep, having set up on the side of the bed I peered out the small window to see the full moon. The moon was bright, illuminating the winter darkness. Yet the tops of the evergreen trees blocked the clear visibility of the moon.
Our Lord is the source of illumination. He is the source of light. Yet, is it not true that the “trees” of this life block our view of the One who is the great and eternal light? These trees can be the cares of life, worries, frustrations, difficulties and afflictions of every different sort. Also , the successes of life can be as the evergreen trees. They too, if given the opportunity within the human heart can block the light of the Holy One from shining into us. Desires can also, even right and good desires can stand in the way of a true and clear vision of the Father of Light.
Let us not stand in the forest of interference which denies a true and clear vision of the Lord, but rather in the open field, where the moonlight of His illumination can without restriction shine both upon us, and in us.
Amen!
